Vitamin B6 for Training: How Your Body Uses Food for Energy
A good training day starts before the first working set. You have eaten, made time for the session and arrived with a plan. Behind that familiar routine, your body is continually processing nutrients. Vitamin B6 participates in the metabolism of the food you eat, from the meal before training to dinner afterward.
Our Sweet Peach formula provides 10 mg of vitamin B6 per serving. It sits alongside the amino acids, botanical extracts and caffeine in our pre-workout, each with its own place in the formula.
The work happening behind the workout
Vitamin B6 helps enzymes carry out reactions involved in protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism. It also participates in the breakdown of glycogen, a stored form of carbohydrate. These processes are part of normal nutrient metabolism throughout the day. NIH explains vitamin B6’s roles in metabolism.
Glycogen is one way the body stores carbohydrate for later use. B6 participates in the enzyme reactions that help break it down. Its contribution to nutrient metabolism happens behind the scenes; B6 is not a stimulant like caffeine.
Each plays a distinct part in a training day.
Make room for ordinary meals
B6 occurs in foods including chickpeas, poultry, potatoes and bananas. A varied eating pattern gives this vitamin a place beyond a supplement scoop. See NIH’s food-source examples.
Make that plan specific to your day. A banana can travel with your gym bag; a chickpea bowl can be prepared for lunch. Choose foods you enjoy and can prepare regularly, then leave enough time to eat comfortably around your session.
Where exercise research fits
A 2023 randomized crossover study in 32 healthy adults reported improved time to exhaustion after a 28-day supplement period. The tested product combined several B vitamins with other ingredients. Its finding applies to that mixture; B6 alone and our finished formula were not tested. Read the original exercise study.
Time to exhaustion records how long someone continues the exercise task set by the researchers. Alongside that laboratory measure, your own training plan might track completed sets, repetitions or the duration of a familiar cycling session. Record the session you planned and the work you completed.

Excessive supplemental B6 intake over time can harm nerves. If you use several supplements, include their B6 amounts when discussing the routine with your healthcare professional.
